1. Must have a minimum of four months (on ice) as a brakeman prior to being enrolled in the pilot school. Exceptions to this are as follows:
a) The member in question has been involved in another sliding sport (luge or mono bob) for a period of no less than 1 full season OR

Members are not to engage in 2nd party rental of club equipment, either runners or sleds at any time. Failure to comply will result in the member being brought before the board for disciplinary action as the board sees fit.
EQUIPMENT ALLOCATION PROCEDURE
The Board of Directors will utilize a system that reflects the active involvement of our pilot members in the sport of bobsleigh and at the club level. Two main criteria for sled and runner assignment, are years of membership and pilot experience. The third will be with regards to club involvement in scheduled activities. With regard to pilots’ experience, input will be obtained from our Alberta Bobsleigh coaching staff as to level to which a pilot in question has or will achieve. The assignment of bobsleighs during any one season may change due to:
a) Availability of sleds
b) Damage to present allocation that precludes the use of the bobsleigh.
c) Change in pilot ranking according to sled assignment demerit points.
A change in assignment will only be considered by the executive if one of the above criteria is met and with or without input from the coaching staff of the provincial association.
Any discussion regarding a pilot member’s particular ranking and the sled assignment should be directed towards the President and not individual board members. The ranking system will be placed under review by the Board of Directors every sliding season and is subject to change. Individual board members do not have the authority to grant sled allocation.
Allocation Procedure
The present fleet of bobsleighs for Foothills Bobsleigh, both 2 man and 4 man have been categorized by the executive according to what they feel is the performance level. The sleds have been placed into three categories; A, B, and C.
A Category Sleds:
B Category Sleds: Have been divided into two sub categories B1 and B2
C Category Sleds: Are set aside for Novice pilots and those who have recently completed a pilot school in Calgary.
For a listing of sleds in categories see Appendix A.
Damage to Sled
If a sled is damaged such that the pilot is unable to utilize it either for regular sliding sessions or competitively, the executive of Foothills Bobsleigh will:
a) make every effort to have the sled in question repaired as soon as possible. It is the responsibility of the pilot to communicate with the board member responsible for Maintenance. The board member responsible for maintenance will in turn communicate with the President and the board member who is responsible for sled allocation/re allocation.
b) if the sled cannot be repaired in a timely manner then the executive will move the pilot accordingly to insure the pilot is within his or her capability.
C category pilots within C category if a bobsleigh is available otherwise into B2
B2 pilots within B2 category sleds or C category
B1 pilots within B1 or B2 category sleds
A category pilots within the category or B1
Re Allocation Procedure
It may during a sliding season become necessary for a pilot to be re allocated a sled due to:
a) Damage to the sled presently allocated (See part b above)
b) The executive, in particular the president, has been approached by Alberta Bobsleigh coaching staff with a recommendation to move the pilot into another sled in a category above the present one allocated.
Sled re allocations will be completed by the board member assigned to take care of sled allocations and re allocations. That board member will insure that the President of the club is notified along with the individual board member responsible for Maintenance and/or Sled Rentals. Sleds re allocated due to pilot advancement will follow the same procedure as was given in damage to sleds:
*C category pilots within C category, if a bobsleigh is available otherwise into B2.
*B2 category pilots within B2 category sleds. If there are no B2 bobsleighs available then the board member responsible for bobsleigh re allocation will move a B2 pilot into a B1 bobsleigh.
*B1 category pilots within B1 or into a B2 category sleds (if available)
*A category pilots within the category or B1(if available)
SLIDING-COMPETITION and DRIVER SCHOOL FEES
Foothills Bobsleigh will not as of April 2011, pay the following fees;
1. All fees charged for competition in either Alberta Bobsleigh Association or Bob Canada sanctioned events.
2. Drivers school as operated by Alberta Bobsleigh or any other group. 3. Practice sessions in the Ice House as booked by an individual and not under the operation of Alberta Bobsleigh
4. Individual members will now have to incur costs for all sliding sessions as operated by Alberta Bobsleigh. In the fall of 2012, the executive of Foothills Bobsleigh introduced a Pilot Fee Payment program. Here are the particular items of the program;
Item 1
Each pilot will be responsible for providing the club with five (5) post- dated cheques made out for the first of every month for $300.00. A pilot member can also E transfer the amounts. A member who becomes a pilot during the season will pay the remaining months of the sliding fee in full in accordance to the procedure above. A pilot will also provide the club with a post dated cheque made out for April 1 2019 in the amount of $1000.00. This is a equipment return and condition deposit. The cheque will not be deposited but held to insure that the member pilot returns all equipment in good condition.
Item 2 Member Pilots cannot opt in or opt out of the sliding fee payment program on a monthly basis.
Item 3 If a pilot cannot for the following reasons continue in the sliding fee payment program then a refund will occur. Reasons are;
a) Injury such that it is impossible for the member pilot to continue
for the season.
b) The member pilot incurs a change of residence from Calgary to outside the city which prohibits the member from taking part in the sliding program.
c) The member pilot no longer wishes to be part of Foothills and
with draws their membership.
Item 4 Foothills Bobsleigh will endeavor to refund a certain portion of the sliding fees to the member pilot at the end of the season. This amount will be dependent upon revenue generated through sled rentals and sponsorship. In order for the member pilot to qualify for a possible refund, they must insure that sufficient funds are available to cover the post-dated $250.00 cheque each month. Failure to do so will result in a NSF cheque for the club and the temporary suspension of pilot privileges until the matter is resolved. If during the season there are two such instances than your membership in Foothills Bobsleigh will be revoked and no refund will be possible.
Item 6
The executive of Foothills Bobsleigh reserves the right to make changes to the sliding fee program from season to season as they see fit to ensure the financial stability of the club. Fees charged for a particular season will remain static.

Where possible the equipment will be transported in Foothills Bobsleigh shipping bins OR a covered van. Note that at this time Foothills Bobsleigh only has 2 man shipping bins. IF an individual member is transporting the sled and accessories then they must enter into a contractual agreement as indicated in Item 5 above.
7. If an individual is transporting a sled for competition at venues outside Calgary but in North America they will utilize a method of transport that will insure the safety and security of the equipment. If two sleds are being transported they must be placed in a truck that has a lockable container if sled bins are not being used.
*Equipment refers to sled, runners and accessories

Members are to take an active role in the maintenance of the sled. Snow and ice removal should take place immediately after the sliding session is completed. The assigned sled will be stored with the front cowling towards the door of the storage bin. Foothills members will not have work carried on by any individual or company unless the equipment director or president has cleared that work.
Note: The executive understands that venues other than Calgary, repairs may be deemed necessary to provide a safe bobsleigh for competition. It may be that the pilot under the guidance of an ABA or National coach conduct simple repairs to have the sled conform to guidelines. The pilot must on returning to Calgary notify the Equipment Director immediately the nature of the repair necessary so the club can repair the bobsleigh to their standards.

Item 3 If a pilot cannot for the following reasons continue in the sliding fee payment program then a refund will occur. Reasons are;
a) Injury such that it is impossible for the member pilot to continue
for the season.
b) The member pilot incurs a change of residence from Calgary to outside the city which prohibits the member from taking part in the sliding program.
c) The member pilot no longer wishes to be part of Foothills and
with draws their membership.

SLED STORAGE
It is the responsibility of the pilot and/or crew, to insure that all equipment is stored correctly and locked in the appropriate storage bin immediately after each use. If a member removes a particular piece of equipment from a sled they must insure that is stored safely and returned to the sled. Loss of equipment due to a club members neglect will result in that pilot member assigned the sled being billed for the cost of replacement and lose sliding privileges. Members are to take an active role in the maintenance of the sled. Snow and ice removal should take place immediately after the sliding session is completed. The assigned sled will be stored with the front cowling towards the door of the storage bin. A lost or damaged lock will be replaced immediately with the same type of lock used by the club and 3 keys.
RUNNERS
The condition of the runners is a member’s responsibility. Each sled will be supplied with a set of runners.
